Garrett Lyall - Milton Masters Swim Team Coach
I started swimming competitively with the Milton Marlins Swim Team in 1996. Throughout my swimming career I also swam for Etobicoke Swimming and the Cobra Swim Club. I was a provincial champion in the 100 Fly, medaled at Nationals in the 50 Fly and 100 Fly, I was a member of the Ontario Tour Team in 1998 and I was a member of the 1998-1999 Etobicoke Swimming relay team that broke 6 national records and currently holds 8 Milton Marlin Club records, and 4 Etobicoke Swimming Club records.
I started coaching with the Cobra Swim Club in my senior swimming years as an I Can Swim coach. I was able to continue coaching with the Belleville Youth Swim Team when I was attending Loyalist College from 2003 to 2006. I was the I Can Swim coordinator, coached with their development programs and their Masters team. I was also able to achieve the Skills Coach certification. I am currently working towards my Competition Coach certification.
So far this season, I have seen many changes within our club. There has been a very noticeable change in everyone’s fitness levels (we should be keeping track of the teams weight loss!), the team culture is fantastic (high 5’s and congratulations at the end of a challenging set), and as many of the new members have said, the MMAC members have made them feel as though they have been swimming here for years. That is something that everyone should be very proud of!
I am looking forward to the remainder of this season, and if anyone has any questions or comments, please send them to me. My email address is swim.coach.garrett@gmail.com.
